about

Thank you to Kekuhi Kealiikanakaole for your guidance with respect to these lyrics.

Kekuhi generously offers these words on Kanaloa: The elemental form of Kanaloa is both expansive ocean & deep ocean—all the way to the ocean floor. Kanaloa encompasses most biotic & abiotic forms in the ocean, especially the large fish & animals, and infers the notion of abundance because of the ocean’s ability to provide many levels of sustenance. Kanaloa’s non-material forms are tacit knowledge, ancestral memory, and deep emotion. The idea of "wildness/wilderness" is an implicit character of the element.

lyrics

Moonlight Jenny

It’s late at night and I hear you calling
But I can’t make out your words
I think you’re calling for your mama
And that’s something I will always understand

E Kanaloa, Can you hear me Jenny?
You are wide eyed, mystified, headed for another ride
I think I know you — from my dreams somewhere

Listen with your heart to the ocean rolling
Moonlight on your face
Have you been left or are you just waiting?
In a cold brick house with a blanket on the floor

E Kanaloa, Can you hear me Jenny?
You are wide eyed, mystified, headed for another ride
I think I know you — from my dreams somewhere

Your spirit is wild and it moves like madness
But I can’t make out your words
Messages lost as your wildness rises
And that’s something I will always understand
